Using Instructional Planning Forms
What instructional planning forms are available to help teachers?
The following instructional planning document has been helpful to teachers utilizing CBM and the problem solving model described by Deno and Fuchs (1987).
As seen above, this instructional plan is designed on a grid of columns. The row represents different activities over the course of a lesson, whereas the columns represent five potentially alterable variables that may impact instruction. These include instructional activity, teacher/student ratio, time it takes to complete the task, materials, and motivational strategies (Mirkin et al.,1981). Teachers use their initial instructional plan and the CBM data they collect to consider student academic progress and how it may be improve with either evolutionary or revolutionary changes in instruction.
